LP 670-4 SuperVeloce Chinese Edition at the Beijing Auto Show

The 2010 Beijing Auto Show that began just the other was open to the press on Friday. We did give our readers a preview of the Beijing show.Today we have something more. Almost all car makers are grabbing their share of the emerging markets and what can be better than the 2010 Beijing Auto show if any of them is interested in capturing the Chinese car buyer’s mind? Today, we bring to you details of the Italian super sports car maker Lamborghini.

When Lamborghini made its entry at the auto show, the audience was stunned. The car maker presented a highly exclusive edition of the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. It was the Chinese Edition. The car’s value is further hiked by the fact that the exclusive edition will be limited to a maximum of ten numbered cars and will be offered to the growing group of sports cars  collectors in China only. Furthermore the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera celebrated its Asian premiere at the Beijing auto show.

Automobili Lamborghini's strong performance at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show and the special edition of the flagship Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce that the Italian super sports car maker unveiled exclusively for the Chinese market, draw attention to the car maker’s steadfast loyalty to China and the development of a super sports car culture in the country.

Last year, Automobili Lamborghini had pulled off an 11 per cent growth in China. Last week, on the 20th of April, Lamborghini launched its seventh Automobili Lamborghini China dealership in Shenzhen. This will soon be followed by the inauguration of an eighth showroom in Xiamen. Lamborghini considers it total pleasure to share its passion with China's super sports car drivers, collectors and fans. Nice way of pleasing the Chinese car buyers must say.

Just ten special edition Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce cars across the globe and these new cars would be designed and manufactured exclusively for China's most discriminating super sports car enthusiasts. Do you see the orange stripe on the car? This stripe symbolizes the power of an erupting volcano. But, it sure decorates the flat grey painted carbon shell of the car. Every model holds a numeration badge with the name of its owner. Personalization personified.

This car, Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce has been one of the most fascinating super sports cars of all times and Lamborghini describes it as "exceptionally purist". While the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 640 is a great model, the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce is an even more extreme top model. It is more powerful, lighter and faster than the Murciélago LP 640. With the output of the 6.5 liter V12 increased to 670 bhp and a weight reduction of 100 kg, the Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 2.3 kg per bhp. It leaps from zero to 100 km/h in merely 3.2 seconds and hits top speed at 342 km/h.

With its stupendous performance, cutting-edge precision and incomparable high-speed stability, the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce is the ultimate performance car for advanced sports car drivers. It was extensively altered and redeveloped in almost every aspect to make it achieve the substantial weight reduction of 100 kilograms. From chassis to engine and transmission, right through to the interior, the car was modified.

The engine output increase from 640 to 670 bhp was due to optimized valve timing and a reworked intake system. The significantly modified aerodynamics with substantially increased downforce enhances car stability even at very high speeds. The large "Aeropack Wing" and its added downforce give a top speed of 337 km/h.

Mercedes SLS AMG Officially Launched in India

A very auspicious day for car launches, or so it seems. Fiat India today launched the more powerful 90 bhp Punto here, and Mercedes Benz India has finalised on the same date to launch its much publicised SLS AMG. Thanks to Mercedes, rich Indians will now have means of flaunting their money. Ever since it was unveiled during the Auto Expo 2010, sports car lovers in India had been waiting for this piece of excellence to be launched.

The super luxury sports car, SLS AMG, has been launched today. The SLS AMG was supposed to be launched on 15th of July, but due to some reasons the launch had to be postponed by a day.

Mercedes Benz was the first of the German luxury car makers to foray into the Indian market and the car maker seems upbeat about launching its latest super luxury offering in the country. “We are very excited to come with SLS in India. We have started the production couple of weeks ago in Germany, there is no time lag to launch the vehicle in India,” Mercedes Benz India Managing Director and CEO Wilfried Aulbur said.

The Mercedes Benz SLS AMG is priced between Rs 2 crore and Rs 2.5 crore in India. That’s mainly because the sports car is being imported as a Completely Built Unit, and thus attracts heavy import duties. But the high price of the SLS AMG should not pose a problem to the multi millionaire Indians. Further the price will vary among the prospective customers depending on the customisation level sought by them.

The SLS AMG comes with a technology package that will guarantee driving dynamics of the highest standard. The SLS AMG is powered by AMG 6.3-litre V8 front-mid-engine that can generate as much as 571 bhp and 650 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed double-declutch transmission in a transaxle configuration. The 8 cylinder engine can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds. Now, that’s a figure which is bound to excite the people who love to burn some rubber on tracks.

Mercedes India has already received quite a few confirmed bookings for the SLS AMG but the company says that there will be a waiting period 6-8 months to deliver the car after booking.

Toyota to launch two new hybrid sports cars: MR2 and Supra

According to the latest reports it appears that Toyota is ready to built two hybrid sports cars: a successor to the MR2 and a reborn Supra.

First of all, we have the MR2 which is set to receive a hybrid powertrain based on a 1.5-liter petrol engine, just like the Honda CR-Z, which uses a 1.5-liter engine capable to deliver 102 hp but also an electric motor which develops an extra 20 hp. Apparently, the MR2, which will make its debut in 2013, was set to receive a V6 petrol engine but due to the success of the Honda CR-Z, Toyota changed its mind. Regarding the Supra successor, it seems that this car will be inspired by the FT-HS Concept unveiled back in 2007 at the Detroit Auto Show and will receive a V6 hybrid powertrain. Set to make its debut in late 2013 or 2014, the car’s development is now running almost in parallel with that of the FT-86.
